Best Dressed At Met Gala 2026: Hands down, the Met Gala has always been fashion's biggest event, and in 2026, the show and showstoppers have not let us down. Celebrities across the globe showcased their best looks in order to fit into the theme of the Met Gala 2026, ‘Costume Art.’ Additionally, the dress code ‘Fashion Is Art’ also had a great influence on the looks of celebrities.
Each look of the night was a piece of art, from Beyoncé’s Olivier Rousteing number embellished to resemble the skeletal system to Rihanna’s Maison Margiela creation featuring over 115,000 crystal beads and Isha Ambani’s 200-cut diamond bodice. Despite the many eye-catching and interesting looks presented at the Met Gala 2026, there were some celebrity appearances that completely reflected the theme of the event.
Beyoncé
Beyoncé deserves special attention since it has been almost a decade since she attended the Met Gala. It should be mentioned that one of the co-chairs of the Met Gala, Beyoncé, wore an outfit representing fashion as art. To be more precise, she chose a skeletal dress created by Olivier Rousteing.

The outfit included a crystal-embellished dress featuring the silhouette of a skeleton with a feathered cape. Beyoncé's appearance at the Met Gala was greatly appreciated by critics as well as by fashion enthusiasts alike.
Isha Ambani
Equally fascinating was Isha Ambani’s Met Gala look. She showcased Indian tradition like a star on the world stage. She wore a Gaurav Gupta saree with a twist, which perfectly combined traditional elements with futuristic design. The outfit was completed with more than 1,800 carats of diamonds and exquisite pieces of heritage jewellery, but what made her stand out was the artistic narrative behind her appearance, as she wore intricate workmanship, sculpted silhouette, and a handcrafted jasmine hair accessory.

Sabrina Carpenter
Yet another person making headlines for an amazing costume choice at the Met Gala was Sabrina Carpenter, whose custom-made Dior gown, designed from film strips, was considered to be one of the most ingenious costumes of the evening. Thus, cinema itself became the source of inspiration, and Sabrina used it creatively by choosing film strips depicting scenes from a famous movie named after her, Sabrina.

Rihanna
Rihanna looked like a piece of art in a Maison Margiela creation. As in previous years, Rihanna demonstrated her superiority over other celebrities on the red carpet by wearing a very unusual yet beautiful costume that reminded one of medieval architecture.

Her dress featured over 115,000 crystal beads, antique jewels and other artistic baubles.

Emma Chamberlain
Lastly, Emma Chamberlain made an impressive statement with her hand-painted Mugler gown that merged fashion with fine art. Her dress included elaborate painted elements, making it seem like a moving piece of art. She conveyed the theme subtly and effectively, demonstrating that there is no need for excessive artistry when it comes to costume art.

It is essential to highlight the importance of each of these stars’ looks at the Met Gala 2026. Each celebrity interpreted the theme differently and provided unique examples of costume art.
Instead of wearing fancy and elaborate dresses that were unrelated to the event's concept, these people chose costumes that represented a part of their cultural heritage or were inspired by cinematographic art.
