But when everything feels urgent, it is necessary to identify what needs your immediate attention, improve focus, and reduce stress.

work overload

Not just work, in today’s fast-paced life, it is common to feel overwhelmed, frustrated, and irritated with too many tasks and too little time. From work deadlines, personal responsibilities, to daily chores, everything can seem equally important and might need prompt attention, leading to stress, confusion, and reduced productivity.

Therefore, to learn the art of prioritisation, in conversation with the Daily Jagran, Ms Kruti Sharma, Corporate Trainer, Leadership Coach, POSH & AML Expert, shared insights on how to focus your energy on what matters most instead of trying to do everything at once.

6 Smart Strategies To Prioritise Tasks And Reduce Stress When Work Overloads

1. Make A To-Do List:

Many tend to believe that a to-do list doesn’t matter, as it is not taken seriously at all. If you are one of them, then you are doing it all wrong. Start your day by writing down all tasks. The most important ones should be first and start with them. If any task can be shifted, then do so and buy some time to work on it. Seeing everything in one place helps you plan better.

2. Use The Urgent vs Important Method:

Divide tasks into four categories that include urgent and important, important but not urgent, urgent but not important, and neither. Focus first on what is both urgent and important, and process it first.

3. Set Realistic Goals:

Avoid overloading your day by trying to do everything at one go. Break big tasks into smaller steps and complete them one at a time, and you will be able to be productive.

4. Avoid Multitasking:

Doing too many things at once can reduce efficiency and induce stress and anxiety. Focus on one task at a time for better results.

5. Regular Breaks:

Regular breaks can calm and relax your mind and improve concentration, and are much needed to remain focused.

6. Learn To Say NO:

It is okay to set boundaries. Don’t make any promises under pressure. Give yourself some time to be able to complete the tasks.

Lastly, it is important to note that small changes in how you plan your day can make a big difference in achieving balance and peace of mind, and staying productive and delivering your best.
