Rare Natural Events:  Every year, there is an opportunity to experience certain wonders of nature that remind us of how wonderful the planet we live on can be. From a waterfall that looks like molten lava to migratory congregations decorating the shores, each of these rare annual phenomena is characterised by predictability, uniqueness, and brevity, appearing once a year only briefly to inspire wonder and disappear until the next one appears.

List Of 6 Rare Annual Natural Events:

Here is a list of 6 rare natural events that happen once a year to witness the unpredictability and wonder of Mother Earth.

1. Yosemite Firefall

During some of the February evenings, sunlight shines on Horsetail Fall in just the right way that the waterfall glows and seems to be flowing like lava. However, this happens if the combination of melted snow, sunny weather and the correct angle of solar radiation occurs together.

2. Great Sardine Run

This phenomenon is sometimes referred to as "The Greatest Shoal on Earth." Each year, billions of sardines migrate to the east coast of South Africa, bringing thousands of dolphins, sharks, whales, seals, and seabirds with them, resulting in one of the biggest marine feeding aggregations on the planet. This usually takes place during the Southern Hemisphere's winter months, from May to July.

3. Coral Spawning

Once a year, corals from the Great Barrier Reef simultaneously release eggs and sperm into the water. Usually, it happens within several hours, following a full moon, and is considered one of the greatest biological wonders of the planet.

4. Monarch Butterflies’ Migration

Monarch butterflies undertake an incredible journey of thousands of kilometres every year from Canada and the USA to their overwintering grounds in central Mexico. This is one of the longest insect migrations on record, and it completely changes the appearance of whole forest groves covered by colourful butterflies.

5. Salmon Run

Every year, adult salmon migrate back from the sea to the rivers where they were spawned. They battle against the current, rapid water, and even waterfalls to spawn, which gives them important sustenance to bears, eagles, and wolves.

6. Red Crabs Migration on Christmas Island

Every year after the first heavy rains in the wet season, millions of red crabs leave the forests, crossing roads that are closed at this time, to mate near the seashore. The date of this unique migration changes each year slightly, but it happens just once a year. It is thought that this is one of the largest migrations of land animals in the world.
