Jagran Correspondent, New Delhi: Millions of commuters travelling on the Delhi-NCR Metro and the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) face significant mobile connectivity issues. A report by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has exposed the shortcomings of prominent telecom companies.
TRAI conducted drive tests on 15 Delhi metro and RRTS routes totaling 490 kilometre. TRAI expects telecom companies to quickly expand coverage, reduce call drops, and improve speeds.
All About TRAI Survey
MTNL performed the worst, while Jio led in download speeds and Airtel best in upload speeds, according to a TRAI survey conducted in April 2026.
The survey was held on Blue Line, Pink Line, Yellow Line, Violet Line, Magenta Line, Green Line, Red Line, Grey Line, Orange Line, Aqua Line, Rapid Metro and Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat RRTS.

Problems Persist In Both Underground, Elevated Sections
TRAI has shared these results with all telecom companies (Airtel, Jio, Vodafone Idea and MTNL) so that they can improve their services. TRAI said that these tests have been conducted with the aim of providing better mobile services to the passengers and motivating the service providers to make improvements.
The report is significant for lakhs of daily metro commuters in Delhi-NCR, as signal and internet issues remain a daily problem in both underground and elevated sections.
