West Bengal Elections 2026: The voter turnout for the repolling across 15 booths in the Diamond Harbour and Magrahat Paschim assembly constituencies of West Bengal hit a staggering 86.9 per cent till 5 PM on Saturday.

According to information received from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state, Diamond Harbour recorded a turnout of 87.6 per cent, while Magrahat Paschim followed with 86.11 per cent.

Repolling At 15 Booths In Diamond Harbour And Magrahat Paschim

Following complaints of irregularities, the Election Commission of India (ECI) ordered repolling at 15 polling booths: four booths in Diamond Harbour (Nos. 117, 179, 194, and 243) and 11 in Magrahat West (Nos. 46, 126, 127, 128, 142, 214, 215, 216, 230, 231, and 232).

Large crowds gathered outside these stations as soon as voting began in the morning, leading to a staggering turnout throughout the day.

Repolling To Be Held In Falta

The Election Commission has ordered repolling at the Falta assembly constituency after violent clashes between the supporters of the BJP and the TMC during repolling at 15 booths in the Diamond Harbour and Magrahat Paschim.

Repolling at all 285 polling stations will be conducted from 7 AM to 6 PM on May 21. The counting will take place on May 24.

Tensions Flare In Falta: TMC Accused Of Threatening BJP Supporters

Tensions flared in Kasimnagar, Falta, on Saturday as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused Trinamool Congress (TMC) of assaulting and threatening their party workers, prompting BJP supporters to block the national highway and stage a protest.

While the TMC has categorically denied these allegations, the poll body has requested a detailed report from the district administration.

This follows a war of words between Ajaypal Sharma, an IPS officer from Uttar Pradesh and the EC's police observer in Bengal, and TMC candidate Jahangir Khan. Sharma had warned Jahangir to stop intimidating him, to which Jahangir retorted that if Ajaypal Sharma is 'Singham' then he is also 'Pushpa' and will not bow down to anyone's pressure.
