The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has officially released its list of 40 star campaigners for the first phase of the assembly elections. Amid the intensifying political atmosphere in West Bengal, this announcement is being viewed as a calculated move that reveals the party's broader electoral strategy. The announcement comes as campaigning intensifies ahead of the two-phase elections scheduled for April 23 and April 29, with counting of votes on May 4.

Leadership At Helm

The campaign will be spearheaded by TMC supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alongside National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee. These two figures remain the heart of the organisation and are expected to be the primary architects of the party’s campaign narrative.

By deploying such a diverse group, the TMC aims to move beyond a singular charismatic appeal, opting instead for a localised approach that leverages leaders with deep territorial influence.

Mamata Banerjee's Rallying Cry In Manikchak

During a public address in Manikchak, Mamata Banerjee issued a stern warning to the electorate, calling for a unified front against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

"If you want to live peacefully for the next 5 years, then you must unite to stop the BJP. BJP will ruin the country. They don't respect any religion," she stated.

Sharp Criticism Of Central Tactics

The Chief Minister further accused the BJP of trying to enforce an artificial religious identity on Bengal while failing to grasp the state's unique culture. She also alleged that central agencies are being weaponised for political gain.

Agency Misuse: Banerjee claimed that bodies like the NIA, CBI, ED, BSF, and CISF are operating under the direct influence of "Mota Bhai" (a reference to Amit Shah), leading to the arrest of innocent individuals.

The Road Ahead

With the TMC positioning its most aggressive and experienced faces on the front lines, the stage is set for a high-octane confrontation. The upcoming elections are expected to be a fierce multi-cornered contest, primarily dominated by the escalating rivalry between the TMC and the BJP.
