Weather Update: An active western disturbance combined with the advancing monsoon has brought a major weather shift across northern and central India. In view of this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning across 21 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan, with strong winds expected to reach speeds of 60-80 km/h.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and closely follow official weather updates.

Heavy Rain, Thunderstorm Alert Issued For Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh
Delhi and the surrounding areas have been overcast since morning. The Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain and thunderstorms, which are expected to bring down temperatures and provide significant relief from the heat.
Meanwhile, an alert has been issued for several parts of western and eastern Uttar Pradesh, where residents are likely to witness heavy rain and dust storms. Local authorities have also issued lightning warnings for several areas.
Monsoon Advances Into Bihar; Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Alert For Rajasthan
According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon fronts are advancing into Bihar, with several parts of the state expected to experience heavy rain and thunderstorms today, accompanied by strong winds reaching up to 85 km/h. Authorities have issued a warning for the eastern parts of the state, where crop damage is expected.
An active western disturbance is expected to trigger intense weather across Rajasthan. Several districts are set to experience heavy rain and thunderstorms. In desert areas, strong, dust-laden winds are expected to severely impact visibility.
What's In Forecast For Hilly States?
According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain and hailstorms are likely across Himachal Pradesh for the next few days, starting today, June 17. Tourists have been advised to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel due to the risk of landslides in high-altitude areas.
Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected to lash both the hilly and plain areas of Uttarakhand. Authorities have warned that sudden weather shifts can trigger road disruptions across the mountainous regions.
Meanwhile, a weather change has also swept through Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, where rain and strong winds are forecast for many areas.
