Jagran Correspondent, Lucknow: Following the exit of a western disturbance that had brought temporary relief, scorching heat has once again gripped the region. Bright sunshine on Tuesday pushed temperatures up across several districts. Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Banda were the hottest in the state.

Meanwhile, light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning occurred in the southern districts and the Terai region bordering Bihar. In Badaun, a young man who went to the roof to pick up clothes during the storm lost his balance due to the force of the storm and fell to his death.

IMD Forecasts Gusty Winds, Thunderstorms For 55 Districts; Rain Likely In Some Areas

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), atmospheric moisture accompanied by cloud movement is likely to bring light rainfall to several areas, including Kushinagar, Maharajganj, and Siddharthnagar.

The weather office has issued alerts for 55 districts across the state, where residents are likely to experience thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds gusting at speeds of 50 to 60 kilometres per hour.

Strong Winds, Thunderstorm Warning For THESE Districts

According to Meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh, strong winds and thunderstorms are likely in several parts of the state, including Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Deoria, Gorakhpur and Basti division.

Similar conditions are expected in Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Kanpur division, Saharanpur division, Meerut division, Aligarh, Agra, Moradabad, Bareilly and several districts of Bundelkhand.

Temperature Likely To Rise

The Meteorological Department has forecast a rise in temperatures in more than 40 districts, including Lucknow, over the next five days. The trend is expected to intensify the heat across the state in the coming days.

On Wednesday, Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 40.1 degrees Celsius, 2.1 degrees above normal. Meanwhile, Jhansi recorded 42.5 degrees Celsius and Hamirpur 42.2 degrees Celsius.

Prayagraj Hottest; Varanasi And Banda Follow Closely

Prayagraj was the hottest location in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius. Varanasi recorded a maximum of 43 degrees Celsius, followed by Banda at 42.6, Jhansi at 42.5, and Hamirpur at 42.2 degrees Celsius.
