Jagran Correspondent, Muzaffarnagar: Five members of a family, including four children, died late Sunday night after the roof of their mud house collapsed during heavy rainfall.

According to a report by Jagran.com, the tragic incident occurred in Habibpur village, located within the Phugana police station limits of the Muzaffarnagar district. The roof of the mud house belonging to 52-year-old labourer Islamuddin collapsed, killing him and his four children, 12-year-old Rukhsar, five-year-old Alsifa, two-year-old Ahad, and eight-month-old Zeeshan.

Two other children from the family, Sukaiya and Sumayya, sustained injuries in the collapse and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

5 Of Family Dead, Probe Launched

The incident occurred on July 19 at the residence of 52-year-old Islamuddin, a labourer who works in kilns, on farmers' farms, and also drives a horse-drawn carriage to support his nine children. His wife was out in the neighbourhood when the collapse took place.

Hearing the loud crash, local residents rushed to the spot and launched an immediate rescue operation. Shortly after, a fire brigade team, police forces from Budhana and Fugana, and district officials arrived at the scene. Utilising a JCB machine, the victims were pulled out from the debris, and their bodies were sent for a post-mortem examination. Following the tragedy, the police have initiated an official investigation.

300-Year-Old Baba Baijjunath Temple Collapsed

Amid relentless rainfall, the nearly 300-year-old Baba Baijjunath Temple in Baswari village of the Dhanghata area, Sant Kabir Nagar district, collapsed on Sunday after its structure reportedly weakened due to days of continuous rain.

According to local residents, cracks began appearing in the temple walls around noon. Within a short span, the centuries-old structure gave way and came crashing down. Fortunately, no devotees were inside the temple at the time, preventing what could have been a major tragedy.
