UP Weather: After weeks of scorching heat across North India, the weather took a dramatic turn late Thursday evening as thunderstorms, rain, and hailstorms swept through nearly 40 districts of Uttar Pradesh, including parts of Delhi-NCR. Strong winds accompanied by light showers brought significant relief, causing the minimum temperature to drop by nearly four degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature also plunged sharply by 10 to 12 degrees Celsius in several regions. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures are expected to rise again from Saturday through Monday, with maximum temperatures likely to remain between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius. However, another western disturbance is forecast to become active from May 4, which could trigger fresh spells of light rain, while light to moderate rainfall along with gusty winds is also possible on May 5.

Earlier on Thursday, thunderstorms and rain had already lowered daytime temperatures to around 30 degrees Celsius in several districts, including Ayodhya, Varanasi, Kanpur, Ballia, and Ghazipur. Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 31.3 degrees Celsius.

Hailstorms were reported from several areas in Barabanki and Ghaziabad, while more than 35 districts across eastern and western Uttar Pradesh are expected to continue witnessing rain and strong winds until late Friday night. Multiple districts also remain under hailstorm alerts.
