UP Weather: North India, including Uttar Pradesh, continues to reel under severe heatwave conditions, with soaring temperatures making life difficult for residents. Amid the scorching weather, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, severe heatwave conditions, and warm nights across eastern and western districts of the state till May 31.
Meanwhile, residents of Unnao received much-needed relief on Monday night after a sudden change in weather. Rain accompanied by gusty winds swept through several rural areas late in the evening, bringing down temperatures and providing respite from the intense heat and humidity.
UP under 'Nautapa'
Uttar Pradesh on Monday entered the phase of 'Nautapa' - a nine-day period regarded as the most intense spell of summer heat with temperatures crossing 40 degrees Celsius in several districts and authorities stepping up measures to tackle heatwave conditions across the state.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heatwave to severe heatwave conditions in isolated areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday.
IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert Till May 31
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Lalitpur, Jhansi, Jalaun, Fatehpur, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Varanasi, Jaunpur, and Agra till may 27.
