  1. CBI questions handling of beauty parlour CCTV footage.
  2. Crime scene management and sealing procedures under scrutiny.
  3. Alleged suicide belt not given for post-mortem examination.

The Twisha Sharma case has come under fresh scrutiny following details in the CBI's 636-page charge sheet and statements recorded from witnesses. Apart from allegations of mental torture, the investigation itself has raised concerns over how crucial evidence was collected and handled after the incident.

A major point in the investigation is the CCTV footage from the beauty parlour that Twisha visited on May 12. According to the statement of parlour owner Kiran Parihar, Twisha's mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, called around 11:30 am on May 13 and asked whether Twisha had visited the parlour and whether CCTV cameras were installed.

Around 1:30 pm, two men and a woman reportedly arrived at the parlour and identified themselves as lawyers. They allegedly told the staff that the police needed CCTV footage from 3 pm to 6 pm on May 12. Since the parlour's technician was unavailable, they called technician Rameshwar Prasad Pandey, who copied the footage onto a pen drive.

This has become a significant part of the CBI's investigation, particularly over who authorised the three people to collect the footage and whether they had any written permission from the police. The circumstances also raise concerns over why the investigating officer did not directly collect such important evidence.

Questions Over Crime Scene Handling

The CBI charge sheet has also highlighted issues with the handling of the crime scene. According to Sub-Inspector Dinesh Sharma's statement, police received information from AIIMS Bhopal around 12:30 am on May 13 that Twisha had allegedly hanged herself on the roof of her house.

Police reached the terrace in Baghmugaliya around 2:30-3 am, where two black nylon belt-like strips were found hanging from an iron pipe. A bed, mattresses, clothes and a red mobile phone were also found nearby. A laptop was recovered from a first-floor room.

Dinesh Sharma said the room was sealed and the terrace door was locked. However, the CBI investigation examined why the terrace where Twisha was found was not completely sealed.

Why Was The Belt Not Handed To Post-Mortem Doctors?

Dr Bardoniya of FSL Zone-2 was informed around 8 am, and the scene was inspected at around 9 am. A mobile phone, laptop and a belt with two rings were seized.

The CBI also questioned the handling of the nylon belt allegedly used for the noose. According to the charge sheet, the belt was not handed over to the doctors conducting the post-mortem examination. Dinesh Sharma reportedly cited ill health and said he was unaware of the matter.

What Happened At The Beauty Parlour?

According to statements given to the CBI by the parlour owner and employees, Twisha had visited Expressions Beauty Parlour in Katara Hills around 3 pm on May 12. She underwent a head oil massage, pedicure and full-body waxing and appeared normal during the visit. Employees reportedly noticed no injuries, scratches or other marks on her body.

At around 9:36 pm, Twisha allegedly sent a message to her mother describing her mental distress. The charge sheet states that she was later taken out of the house around 10:23 pm and was declared dead at AIIMS at approximately 10:55 pm.

Overall, the CBI charge sheet brings attention not only to the allegations surrounding Twisha's death but also to the way evidence was collected, preserved and handled during the initial police investigation.
