Twisha Sharma Death Case: In a major development in the Twisha Sharma death case, her husband, who was on the run since her passing on May 12, was arrested on Friday. His arrest came after police issued a lookout notice and announced a reward initially Rs 10,000, later hiked to Rs 30,000 for information about him.

Jabalpur police took Samarth into their custody after he reached the district court to surrender. He was taken to the nearby Omti police station and would be handed over to the Bhopal police. Samarth reached the district court in the evening with the intention of surrendering after withdrawing his pre-arrest bail application filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Members of Twisha's family and their lawyers were also present outside the court.

Meanwhile, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has suspended the Bar licence of Samarth. The model-turned-actor, Twisha (33) was found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal's Katara Hills area on May 12.

Who Is Samarth?
Samarth, who is a lawyer by profession, is the son of retired judge Giribala Singh. Giribala, a co-accused, got anticipatory bail days after Twisha's family filed a case under the dowry-related charges. Samarth, a graduate of National Law School (NLS), holds a B.A. LL.B. (Hons) degree and has been practising law since 2018.

What Are The Charges Against Samarth?
Her family accused her in-laws of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide. Police registered an FIR, charging her husband, advocate Samarth, and her mother-in-law with dowry death and harassment. The victim's family levelled serious allegations against her husband, Samarth, and his mother, of dowry harassment, mental, and physical torture. Her father also alleged that Samarth is a drug addict, and he had informed his mother. Police filed an FIR under BNS Sections 80(2) (dowry death), 85 (cruelty) and 3(5) (common intention) and Sections 3 (giving or taking dowry) and 4 (demanding dowry) of the Dowry Prohibition Act, following the complaint filed by Twisha's parents.
A CCTV footage from Sarmarth's house on the ill-fated day shows that at least three men, including her husband, are administering two failed CPR attempts before carrying her body down the stairs to a lower floor. Her mother-in-law also appears in the video. The video established that both accused were in the house when the alleged suicide took place.
