A major lapse on the part of the police has surfaced in the Twisha Sharma death case. As per AIIMS Bhopal, the belt by which the Bhopal woman hung herself was not submitted by the investigating officer for the autopsy. Furthermore, Twisha's mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, claimed that she allegedly smoked marijuana during her pregnancy.

Lapses In Investigation

According to the protocol, the police officials were supposed to submit the material used for hanging to the doctors during autopsy to compare the neck marks with the alleged ligature. The matter also raises serious questions about the investigation and whether someone attempted to tamper with the evidence.

Misrod Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajnish Kashyap, who is heading a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case, told IANS that the belt was secured from the spot and admitted the lapse on the investigation officer's part. He added that the item was later handed over to the Forensic Science Laboratory team and then deposited at AIIMS Bhopal.

Another crucial point that has emerged in the investigation is the movement of Twisha’s dead body by her husband and others, without any presence of police officials.
