Tamil Nadu Weather: Tamil Nadu is currently grappling with an intense heatwave, making it difficult for people to step outdoors. However, there is relief in sight, as the Chennai Weather Centre has forecast widespread rainfall across the state over the next week.
For residents struggling with soaring temperatures, the forecast offers a welcome break, with rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds expected in several districts from May 1 onwards.
On May 1, parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to witness light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Heavy rainfall is also expected in isolated areas including Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, and Erode, with wind speeds reaching 40-50 km/h.
The rainfall activity is expected to intensify on May 2, with heavy showers predicted in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Salem, and Namakkal, alongside strong winds.

On May 3, light to moderate rain is likely to continue in several regions, while hilly and western districts such as Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, and Dindigul may experience heavy rain and gusty conditions.
On May 4, the day of Tamil Nadu Assembly election vote counting is also expected to see wet weather conditions.
The weather department has forecast light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning across parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, while heavy rain with strong winds is likely in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, and Trichy.
Rainfall is expected to persist from May 5 to May 7, bringing continued showers, thunderstorms, and cooler conditions to several parts of the state
