Tamil Nadu Govt Formation: Congress on Wednesday extended its support to Vijay's TVK to form its government in Tamil Nadu. In its press release, the party stated that it will support Vijay if he does not associate with the communal forces, referring to the BJP. However, an unexpected twist unfolded as a section of AIADMK claimed to be in touch with the newly formed party. TVK emerged as the single largest party by winning 108 seats; however, it still needs 10 more seats to form a government.
AIADMK leader CV Shanmugam, while addressing the issue, stated that the decision will be taken by the top brass. A large section of AIADMK MLAs arrived at Shanmugam's residence amid the reports suggesting a possible rift in the party. Party spokesperson Kovai Sathyan confirmed that the talks with TVK began last night, adding that the numbers have not been discussed yet.
"Some momentum between the two camps, between the AIADMK and the TVK. High command will take a decision, so there is some momentum which has started since yesterday night. So let's wait for the time; as of now, it's too early to talk about numbers," he told the reporters.
He further stated that the majority decision will be taken by the high command, adding that the "ball is in Vijay's court". "The ball is in Mr Vijay's court. The majority decision will be taken by the high command. If he has to turn the dream into reality, it has to come from Mr Vijay's side," he added.

The Congress' decision to support TVK has also created a rift within the DMK alliance. While addressing the issue, DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai stated that this decision will present Congress as an untrustworthy partner, adding that the party should have stayed with the MK Stalin-led party.
