The district administration in Gurugram is accelerating the expansion of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to promote a cleaner, safer and more eco-friendly energy source. Residents in areas where PNG pipelines are available from authorised agencies are being encouraged to avail the facility. To ensure a smooth transition, the government has introduced strict reforms to fast-track infrastructure development and connection timelines.
The 90-Day Transition Window
Residents living in areas where pipeline infrastructure is already available are now required to switch to PNG.
The Trigger: The countdown starts once the authorised City Gas Distribution (CGD) company sends a formal notice via registered post to a household.
The Deadline: Residents have exactly three months (90 days) from the receipt of this notice to apply for a PNG subscription.
Consequences of Non-Compliance: If a lawful owner or occupier fails to apply within this window, their existing LPG cylinder supply will be discontinued.
Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar emphasised that PNG is not only more convenient eliminating the hassle of cylinder replacements, but is also a superior choice for environmental protection.
Phase-Out of LPG
Once the three-month grace period expires, the administration will begin a phased shutdown of LPG supply in those specific areas. This move is designed to transition the population toward modern energy facilities and save consumers time and effort. Citizens are urged to adopt this initiative positively and secure their connections promptly.
Application Requirements And Documentation
To transition from the LPG database to the PNG system, applicants must verify their residency and legal status. The following documentation is required:
Proof of Residence: Standard government-issued address proofs.
Ownership Verification: Documents confirming the applicant is the lawful owner or occupier of the premises.
These documents are essential for the authorised agency to formalise the subscription and update the energy records of the household.
