Shiv Sena (UBT) Split Buzz: Amid the speculations of the majority of Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs planning to form a separate bloc, the reports suggest that seven of the nine MPs arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday to meet the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. As per the reports, they are likely to urge Birla to identify them as a separate bloc in the lower house. Arvind Sawant, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP, in a letter to Speaker Birla, has urged him to not recognise any such separate group.

The discontent MPs are likely to meet the speaker on Wednesday, reported the Indian Express, citing people familiar with the matter. Earlier on Monday, the reports of a split gained momentum after UBT MP Sanjay Deshmukh met Union minister Prataprao Jadhav in Delhi; however, they denied any political angle.

While reacting to these speculations, party Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), alleged that the Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs were being offered money to switch sides. "Money, money…all about money! It is shocking and disgusting that attempts are being made to buy Members of Parliament from Maharashtra," Raut said in his post.

He also stated that the MPs took part in a meeting called by party chief Uddhav Thackeray a few days back and pledged to remain intact with the party. "A few days ago, all these MPs took part in a meeting called by Uddhav Thackeray ji and expressed faith in his leadership. Some of them even swore by their loved ones while pledging support to Uddhav ji," the Rajya Sabha MP added.

In his letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker, Sawant urged him not to recognise a separate group, adding that no such bloc can form until the original political party itself formally merges. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde arrived in the national capital in the late hours of Tuesday.
