Satya Niketan Building Collapse: Not NDRF Or Local Police, Blinkit Ambulance Arrived First To Rescue Trapped Victims

Jagran Correspondent | New Delhi: Moments before the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), or the Delhi police, it was a Blinkit ambulance which arrived at the scene to rescue victims following the Satya Niketan building collapse. On Sunday, the Blinkit team received a call from Satya Niketan, which reached the building with an ambulance within a few minutes of receiving the emergency call. The death toll on Monday has risen to seven as rescue operations continue at the illegal PG located in the South Delhi area.

What Happened at the site

As locals were attempting to rescue the people stuck inside the PG accommodation, named “Hostel Daze”. According to a law student, identified as Abhishek, one of the individuals struck inside the six-storey building, contacted the Blinkit ambulance for rescue.

According to Blinkit employee Shruti, the first call was received by her team, which was then stationed at the Safdarjung Hospital. “The first call came to us. The call comes through our app," she added. Blinkit cluster manager Archana Surma said that her team received a call at around 1.40 pm and reached the hospital at 1.50 pm. Following this, the affected people were admitted to the All India Medical Sciences (AIMS) Trauma Centre.

Locals worked to clear debris and rescue those trapped in the building, while BJP MLA Anil Sharma maintained constant communication with rescue operations after being alerted to the situation.

A local Delhi Police official stated the building contained at least 15 rooms, with each accommodating two to three students. Most of the students residing in the building are from UP, Haryana and Kerala and pay Rs 12,000 per bed at the PG accommodation.

Following the incidents, locals alleged that a nearby structure should also be inspected and that it seems to be in a faulty condition.
