Following the Satya Niketan building collapse that claimed over seven lives and left several others injured, the Delhi police have apprehended the building owner, Hariram, from Bhiwandi, Rajasthan. The Delhi government has also suspended five MCD officials from the South Zone with immediate effect under Regulation 5(2).

The five suspended officials are:

Rakesh Kumar - Deputy Commissioner

Ranvir Singh - Superintending Engineer

Lalit Kumar Goel - Executive Engineer (Building)

Sunil Chauhan - Assistant Engineer (Building)

Ashish Kumar - Junior Engineer (Building)

The suspension order has been issued by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi Vigilance Department on the directions of the civic body's commissioner under the DMC Services (Control and Appeal) Regulations, 1959.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police had formed 10 teams to arrest Hariram. The 10 police teams comprised personnel from the local district police, Special Staff and other operational units. 

According to the Delhi Police, raids were conducted across Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh as part of the effort to trace and arrest Hariram, the owner of the collapsed building.

Latest Updates From The Satya Niketan PG Collapse:

- The Delhi government has ordered immediate sealing of buildings with unauthorised fifth floors across Delhi. Nearby PGs and buildings are also being thoroughly inspected. 

- The government has placed a lock on the Hariram Paints and Hardware shop in Sector 23, owned by Hariram Bansa.

-  To provide relief to students scared to return to their PGs, Delhi University has made alternative accommodation arrangements. Several colleges in the South Campus have opened their facilities to students in need, with arrangements being made for temporary accommodation, mattresses, food and other basic amenities.

- The Delhi CM on Monda inspected the Satya Niketan building collapse site and reviewed the ongoing rescue operation. She said around 80 per cent of the debris had been cleared, while work was continuing in the basement where water had accumulated.

- After the Satya Niketan building collapsed, students trapped in the rubble called for help. A Blinkit ambulance was the first to arrive at the scene as rescue operations began, before the NDRF or the Delhi police. Nearby residents also joined in the rescue effort, removing heavy concrete slabs and searching for those trapped in the debris.
