Delhi Building Collapse: CCTV Shows Shopkeeper's Narrow Escape In Satya Niketan; Death Toll Rises To 7 | VIDEO

Satya Niketan Building Collapse: A terrifying CCTV footage has emerged from the site of the building collapse site in South-West Delhi’s Satya Niketan, as the death toll in the tragic incident rises to seven. Rescue operations by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Service, and Delhi Police have entered day 2 to find those trapped under debris.

The Delhi Fire Department received an alert about the collapse at around 1:30 pm on Sunday near Shiv Mandir in the Satya Niketan area, police said. The locality is home to a large student population, with many students staying in PG accommodations due to its proximity to Delhi University's South Campus. The CCTV shows a shopkeeper moving aside the moment he realised that the building is set to collapse.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi issued a statement on Monday moring stating that The JPN Apex Trauma Centre received 10 patients who sustained injuries in the building collapse incident. Out of the 10 patients, five were brought dead, while one patient who was in critical condition later succumbed to his injuries, and three patients have been admitted and are being treated. One patient underwent surgery on the limb. One patient had sustained a minor injury and was discharged after observation.

MCD Initiates Action

The MCD has ordered immediate sealing of illegal constructions exceeding four floors and vowed strict action, including dismissal, against officials responsible. The orders take effect immediately.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ordered a Magisterial Inquiry into the Satya Niketan building collapse and an FIR against the building owner. She said those responsible for the incident would be held fully accountable and dealt with under the strictest provisions of law.
