TMC Crisis: Amid the intensified internal crisis in the Trinamool Congress (TMC) following the humiliating defeat in the West Bengal Assembly election, 19 of the total 28 party MPs have decided to switch sides. As per the reports, the rebel parliamentarians, under the leadership of Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, submitted their names to the Lok Sabha Speaker's office on May 18. The list includes some of the names considered close to the party chief and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Will Support NDA: Rebels
The reports suggest that the rebels have urged the Lok Sabha Speaker to acknowledge them as a separate group, adding that they would extend support to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Ghosh stated that the group has decided to support the ruling alliance as the people of Bengal gave their verdict in favour of the saffron party in the Assembly polls.

As per the anti-defection law, the rebel camp needs a two-thirds majority to form their separate group in the lower house. If the reports turn true, the rebels have a sufficient number, that is, 19 of the total 28, with possibilities of further increase in the tally.

He further issued an ultimatum to Mamata Banerjee by asking her to choose either him or her nephew.
