State Bureau, Jagran, Kolkata: In a major legal breakthrough for the Ritabrata Banerjee-led faction of the Trinamool Congress, the Alipore Court, in its verdict on a case filed by party workers, ruled that the committee established during the June 22 National Working Committee meeting is the only legitimate unit of the party.

Following the verdict, Ritabrata, who is the West Bengal Leader of the Opposition (LoP), stated that the court has recognised his camp as the 'real' Trinamool Congress.

Speaking to reporters, Ritabrata said that a copy of the court order will be sent to the Election Commission as soon as it is received, further strengthening his faction's claim to the party's legitimacy.

He emphasised that, following the verdict, no individual other than a recognised committee has the right to run an organisation under the name of the Trinamool Congress or to call themselves party office bearers.

Control Over Party Offices And Funds

Citing the Alipore Court ruling, Ritabrata further claimed that his faction now has control over all Trinamool Congress party offices and funds. He stated that no individual or group other than the committee led by Arup Roy will be allowed to access party funds or use party properties, including the central Trinamool Bhavan, under the name of the Trinamool Congress.

He further warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone attempting to forcibly occupy party offices or unauthorisedly use the Trinamool Congress name.

As the legal battle intensifies, political circles are closely monitoring the court's decision and waiting to see the next strategic move from the Trinamool Congress faction led by former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
