Three workers died and two were hospitalised after a suspected toxic gas leak took place at a factory in Punjab's Ludhiana in the early hours of Monday.
Five individuals were shifted to the hospital following the suspected leakage, according to the police. Of them, three died during treatment, while the remaining two are stable and under medical observation, the local Station House Officer (SHO) said.
The police have begin a probe into the incident. The SHO claimed that authorities are examining all aspects of the case and working to ascertain what exactly led to the suspected gas leak.
The deceased individuals include Man Singh and his son, Amit. The identity of the third person who died in the gas leak could not be determined immediately.
The two people undergoing treatment were identified as Deepak Kumar and Rajender Kumar.
Man Singh's daughter, Renu, has alleged that her father was compelled to report for duty despite his reluctance to go to work that night.
She said that the families were not informed about the incident even after the affected workers were admitted to the hospital. The workers were rushed to the hospital by the factory owner, said Renu.
