Punjab Municipal Elections Result 2026: Following the results of the Punjab Municipal Corporation and Nagar Panchayat elections, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was seen in full election mode, terming the victory as a referendum to his government's works in the state. In his nearly one-and-a-half-hour address, he described the Aam Aadmi Party's victory as a "strong public stamp of approval" on the state government's schemes, free services, education, health, and anti-corruption campaign. The chief minister claimed that the people of Punjab had rejected the politics of religion, caste, and fear and voted in the name of development and work.

Major Booster For AAP Ahead Of State Polls

The ruling AAP has won a landslide victory in the Punjab Municipal Corporation elections. Results for 312 out of 400 wards have been declared. Results for 88 seats are still pending. The AAP has captured 151 seats, while the BJP has won 62.

Meanwhile, the results for the Nagar Panchayat elections have been declared. Results for all 246 seats have been declared. The Aam Aadmi Party has won 105 seats, significantly outperforming other parties. However, the SAD has given a tough fight and won 66 seats. Independent candidates came in third, winning 48 seats. Congress candidates won 26 seats. Meanwhile, results for 1272 of the 1331 municipal council seats have been declared.

The AAP has won the highest number of seats in the municipal council elections, winning 630. Congress won 263 seats, and independent candidates won 177. Results for the remaining 59 seats are expected by late evening. Results for the municipal elections are also expected soon.

The Chief Minister said that before the elections, the opposition and political analysts were calling these results "quarterfinals" and "semifinals," but now, with the continuous victories, it is clear that the Aam Aadmi Party has reached the "final stage." He said that only the "last layer" of the 2027 assembly elections remains, and the party will achieve a bigger victory there than before.

Approval Of AAP Govt's Work: Kejriwal

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal congratulated party workers for the victory in the local boy elections in Punjab. "Today, the results for the Municipal Corporations and Urban Local Bodies across Punjab have been declared, and the Aam Aadmi Party has achieved a complete sweep. It has been a resounding victory throughout the entire state of Punjab. I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of Punjab and express my deepest gratitude to them for placing such immense trust in the Aam Aadmi Party and its work. In a sense, the people of Punjab have put their seal of approval on the good work being done by the party," he wrote on X.
