State Bureau, Chandigarh: With just a few months remaining in the Punjab Assembly election, Congress has been dealing with an internal crisis since the party announced election-related committees. The close aides of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, in back-to-back meetings at his residence, have openly criticized the current party state chief Amrinder Raja Warring's leadership. As per the reports, the Congress top brass is soon likely to contact all the factions and address their concerns.

Channi's Faction's Ultimatum

Channi and his supporters have clearly indicated that they do not want to contest the upcoming polls under the leadership of Raja Warring, reported Jagran, citing party sources. As per the reports, the Channi camp has given the party high command a week to reconsider the recent decisions related to organization. The reports also suggest that the internal crisis will be addressed after Rahul Gandhi returns from abroad next week.

Raja Warring has also contacted his supporters and is soon likely to hold a meeting with them, possibly in a power display. Amid the crisis within the party, the in-charge of Punjab Congress is also expected to visit Chandigarh soon and is likely to hold separate meetings with all the senior leaders.
