Puducherry Assembly Elections 2026: Nearly 9.5 lakh voters in Puducherry will decide the fate of 294 candidates in the Assembly elections on April 9, covering all 30 seats in the union territory, including Karaikal, Mahe, and Yanam. Voting is scheduled to begin at 7 AM, with all arrangements in place to ensure smooth and fair conduct of polling.

The Puducherry Assembly election has turned into a triangular contest, featuring major alliances and newly floated parties. The ruling NDA, comprising AINRC, BJP, AIADMK, and LJK, is seeking to retain its 'double-engine' governance, while the opposition INDIA bloc, led by the Congress, DMK, and VCK, aims to regain power.
Actor Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has also entered the contest, emerging as a notable third force. Smaller parties, including CPI, CPM, and Naam Tamizhar Katchi, are also in the fray.
