If you are planning to travel between Prayagraj and Delhi and are struggling to get a confirmed ticket while booking, this update may bring major relief for you. The North Central Railway (NCR) has taken a significant step in view of the heavy passenger rush. Now, special clone trains of the Prayagraj Express and Humsafar Express will run up to Dadri instead of New Delhi, making the journey more convenient for passengers.
Normally, operating special trains up to major stations like New Delhi involves operational challenges such as heavy congestion and limited platform availability. Due to this, regular operation of additional trains has become difficult. Managing extra services on demand has also turned complex because of congestion at New Delhi Railway Station.
To address these issues, the North Central Railway has prepared a new operational plan. Dadri station, which falls under the Prayagraj division, will now act as the new terminal for these special trains. Since Dadri is part of the same railway division, operations do not require coordination with other railway zones, making train movement smoother and faster.
Who will benefit?
This change will directly benefit passengers travelling towards Ghaziabad, Noida, and Greater Noida. However, those who need to travel beyond Dadri towards New Delhi will have to arrange local transport for the remaining journey. Still, for commuters within the NCR region, this move is expected to provide major convenience.

Currently, there is extremely high demand on this route. As per the existing railway policy, only 25 per cent waiting list is allowed against total berths in reserved coaches, which often results in immediate “regret” status when no seats or waiting list is available. In such cases, clone trains are introduced to manage passenger demand.
Check Schedule of clone express trains from Prayagraj
- Flexible Scheduling: If continuous regret is observed on a route, these special trains from Prayagraj can be run daily, every three days, or as per requirement.
- Ticket booking: Clone trains will have numbers starting with “0”. Their schedules will be available on IRCTC and PRS counters for booking.

- Chart preparation changes: For trains departing between 05:01 AM and 2:00 PM, the first reservation chart is usually prepared by 8:00 PM a day before departure. For trains departing between 2:01 PM and 11:59 PM or between midnight and 5:00 AM, charts are prepared at least 10 hours before departure. These changes make clone train operations more efficient.
