Parliament Highlights: Both Houses Adjourned Till Monday Amid Opposition Uproar; Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi Stage Protest Outside

Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till Monday on friday amid opposition ruckus in the parliament. Opposition MPs created disruptions forcing both Houses to adjourn without any bills passing.

Proceedings in the Lok Sabha resumed during the Parliament Monsoon Session after an earlier adjournment.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till Monday on friday amid opposition protests over the NEET paper leak issue leading to an early adjournment of the House.

The Parliament Monsoon Session 2026 began today with proceedings starting in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 has been passed with majority support to address exam paper leaks.He urged the opposition to cooperate and not disrupt Parliament, adding that implementing the law quickly to safeguard students' future is now the government's priority.,

Opposition MPs, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, staged a protest at Makar Dwar in Parliament against Union Home Minister Amit Shah.They condemned the alleged 'police action' against CJP protestors on July 20 and demanded accountability from the government.,

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday accused the Centre of acting out of a sense of vendetta against students by filing FIRs against them and subjecting them to forced detentions, as he asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get Home Minister Amit Shah to resign.

Kharge said the youth withdrew their agitation on the condition that no action would be taken against them, but now the BJP governments have reneged on their own word.

"Narendra Modi ji, 10 days ago, your government cracked down on the youth using lathis, batons and pellet guns," Kharge said, referring to the crackdown on agitators by security forces during the July 20 'Sansad Chalo' march led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), and on student demonstrators in other parts of the country protesting against the NEET paper leak issue.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of threatening Gen Z and said that the duo is "India's past" and should be careful about how they treat the country's future.

LoP also alleged that Modi and Shah are behind the filing of FIRs against student protesters and taking down their social media accounts.

"PM Modi and Amit Shah – you cannot threaten Gen Z into silence. First you broke their bones. Now you are filing FIRs and taking down their accounts," Gandhi said on X.,

The remarks came after PM Modi on Thursday said it has become necessary to bring comprehensive reforms in the education system, both at the Centre and in the states, to tackle the menace of paper leaks, asserting that there would be no mercy shown to gangs playing with the future of children.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has welcomed the passage of a Bill ensuring strict actions against any examination paper leak, saying that it will now make the system more robust. "We have initiated successive steps towards a trustworthy education system. It included setting up a task force, fast track courts, considering the viewpoints of states. Because, since the past few decades, state and the Union governments have been facing the problem of exam-paper leaks," the PM said on Thursday evening in a video statement released on social media.,
