Pappu Yadav Protest Row: A massive controversy erupted on Friday after independent MP Rajesh Ranjan, prominently known as Pappu Yadav, staged a protest at parliament while dressing like a saint. In a unique protest, Yadav also carried a donation box and was seen keeping the money offered by the fellow MPs inside his pocket to raise the issue of Ram Mandir donation theft. However, the ruling MPs criticized Yadav for allegedly mocking the saints and hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus.
Complaint Filed In Delhi
A complaint has been filed against him in Delhi's Jahangirpuri police station after Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla raised an objection against the protest. The complainant has alleged that the Purnea MP has hurt the sentiments of Hindus during the protest. The complainant stated that the picture of Lord Ram was placed under the feet of an MP during the protest, hurting the sentiments of many.
Surya Maithil, the complainant, also alleged that the protest was supported by several opposition MPs, including Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party MPs Dimple Yadav and Awadhesh Prasad. Earlier on Friday, the opposition MPs staged a protest on the Parliament premises over the alleged theft of Ram Temple donations. The parliamentarians raised multiple slogans, including "Chanda Chor, Gaddi Chhor" and "Jawab Do Amit Shah".
Opposition MPs Stage Protest
While the opposition MPs were seen putting the money inside the donation box, Yadav placed it inside his pocket, a gesture to mock the alleged theft. The parliamentarians raised multiple slogans after the SP MPs pointed out the irregularities. The entire demonstration was presented in the style of a street play, leading to the controversy.
As per the sources, the Lok Sabha Secretariat has taken a strong stance on such costumed and theatrical performances within the Parliament complex. The Secretariat has clarified that such performances will not be permitted within the Parliament complex.
