Marathi Jagran Correspondent, Mumbai | The Operation Tiger within the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction appears to be finally succeeding. The political developments of the past few days reached a decisive turning point on Wednesday, after six MPs revolted against the Thackeray camp.

Six MPs Submit Letter To Lok Sabha Speaker

Six MPs from the Thackeray faction travelled to New Delhi to meet Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and submitted a letter to form a separate Parliamentary Party. Following the group's recognition, it is expected to merge with the Shiv Sena led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in the next phase. According to sources, rebel MPs from the Thackeray faction began arriving in Delhi one by one starting Tuesday night. Eknath Shinde also arrived at the same time.

  • Sanjay Deshmukh: MP from Yavatmal-Washim in Vidarbha
  • Sanjay Dina Patil: MP from Mumbai North East
  • Nagesh Patil Ashtikar: MP from Hingoli in Marathwada
  • Omraje Nimbalkar: MP from Dharashiv

What Is Operation Tiger?

The rebel MPs were kept at an undisclosed location. All these activities gained momentum on Wednesday morning, and news emerged that the process of forming a separate faction had been completed. This development is considered a major blow to the Thackeray faction. For the past few days, there had been rumours that six or seven Thackeray MPs were in contact with the Shinde faction as part of "Operation Tiger," allegedly launched by Shinde to break Thackeray's party for the second time. With six MPs openly revolted, the Operation Tiger is deemed successful.

Heavy police security outside Sanjay Dina Patil's office - The name of Sanjay Dina Patil, MP from Northeast Mumbai, is also in the news in this entire matter. He is currently in Delhi, but the police have deployed special security arrangements at his residence and office area in Bhandup, Mumbai. This precaution has been taken to prevent potential political tension and law and order problems. A torch symbol is visible outside Patil's office. His residence and office are located in the same location.

Patil's daughter is also a corporator with the Shiv Sena (UBT). Interestingly, Patil was present at Thackeray's meeting on Sunday, showing his loyalty towards the former chief minister. That morning, he had been calling Sanjay Raut and Arvind Sawant his leaders. However, by afternoon, it became clear that he had changed sides.

Thackeray's Shiv Sena On Damage Control Mode

On the other hand, the Thackeray faction has protested these developments. Party MP Arvind Sawant wrote a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker demanding that no separate factions be recognised. Party leader Sanjay Raut also slammed "Operation Tiger" and alleged a conspiracy to split the party. These incidents have once again created a major uproar in Maharashtra politics. The Shinde faction is expected to gain significant political momentum in the wake of Shiv Sena's foundation day on June 19.
