Jagran Correspondent, Odisha: The three separate incidents of rape and murder in Odisha on a single day has sent shockwave across the state, leading to serious questions on the law and order. The incidents were reported in Nabarangpur, Balangir, and Mayurbhanj districts, leading to massive outrage. The incidents took place as the state celebrates Raja Parva, a festival considered a symbol of respect for women. The Odisha police have stated that a probe has been launched in the matters, asserting that those responsible will not be spared.
Murder Case In Nabarangpur
A 22-year-old woman's dead body was found behind her house in Nabarangpur, a day after she went with her friends to celebrate the festivals. Her family members got concerned and began the search operation after she did not return until late at night. As per the reports, the victim's family has alleged that she was first raped and then strangled to death. The police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination and also launched a detailed investigation into the matter.
Boyfriend Accused In Balangir
As per the reports, a woman was allegedly raped by her boyfriend and his friends in the Patnagarh region of Balangir district. The accused and his friends allegedly held the victim captive and gang-raped her when she went to the site to meet him. The police have already arrested the accused and produced them in court, where they were remanded to judicial custody.
Minor Girl Raped In Mayurbhanj
The third incident occurred in Mayurbhanj district where a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a group of four men. As per the reports, the preliminary investigations have confirmed sexual and physical assault. The police have detained the suspects and begun questioning them.

The leaders from the opposition parties, including the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress have slammed the BJP government over these cases.
