The remaining 9-kilometre portion of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, from DND Maharani Bagh to Jaitpur Pushta Road, has been constructed, and this segment is one of the significant steps taken towards the finalisation of this mega-project. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will take a tour of this 9-kilometre part tomorrow.

According to authorities, all the pre-work from the DND side has been completed by NHAI. Out of the 9-kilometre road segment, nearly 7.5 kilometres of the road has been elevated, and the remaining 1.5 kilometres from the Agra canal till Jaitpur Pushta Road will be at ground level. The tour will begin from Sarai Kale Khan.

The construction of this nine-km corridor began on January 11, 2022, and was initially expected to be completed by September 2025, but faced delays due to the construction of a steel bridge over the Agra Canal.

Authorities said that this part features a 140-meter-long Network Arch Bridge, which is now the longest such bridge in India. Its previous record was 132 meters. The bridge has been made at the crossing of the canal, and it's a key feature of the construction.

It is anticipated that it will be thrown open for the commuters by the end of June, after the load testing is done.

At the moment, nearly 50 km of the Delhi-Mumbai expressway is operational. These segments include Jaitpur Pushta Road-Faridabad Sector 65(24 km) and Sector 65-Sohna (26 km). The section from Sohna to Dausa was opened to the public by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2023.

Once the segment from DND to Jaitpur is ready, the journey from Delhi, Noida, to Ghaziabad will be significantly reduced.

Officials also reviewed the under-construction Faridabad-Noida International Airport (Jewar) Greenfield Expressway. This 32-kilometre highway is supposed to provide a direct connection between Faridabad and the upcoming international airport. Of this road segment, 9 km will be constructed in Uttar Pradesh, and 23 km in Haryana. From Sector 65, an 8 km road has been constructed elevated to comply with the city master plan.

This 32 km corridor is under construction in phases. The work on the section till Eastern Peripheral Expressway will be completed by September 2026, and till Sector 65 by January 2027.

Once the Greenfield Expressway from Faridabad to Jewar Airport is constructed, the journey will be limited to only 15-20 minutes.
