Security measures have been tightened across Noida and Greater Noida ahead of several upcoming festivals and the NEET PG 2026 examination, with the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate imposing restrictions from August 23 to September 4.
According to NDTV, Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) will remain in force across the entire Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate until September 4. Under the restrictions, gatherings of more than five people in public places will not be permitted without prior permission. Police permission will also be required for processions, protests and public demonstrations.
The restrictions have been imposed in view of upcoming festivals, including Eid-e-Milad, Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami. Authorities have also cited the NEET PG 2026 examination, scheduled for August 30, and the possibility of protests or demonstrations surrounding the exam.
According to an order issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Shaivya Goyal, the use of loudspeakers will be prohibited between 10 pm and 6 am until September 4.
Moreover, temples, mosques, gurdwaras and churches have been directed to ensure that loudspeaker sound remains confined to their premises and that the volume stays within prescribed limits.
The order states that prayers, worship, processions and religious programmes cannot be organised on public roads or in public places without prior permission. Authorities have also prohibited the introduction of new religious practices at places where such traditions did not previously exist.
Any act that could hurt religious sentiments or insult religious scriptures will be prohibited. The order also restricts the putting up of flags, posters or banners at religious places.
The carrying or display of lathis, sticks, swords, knives, tridents and other dangerous weapons has also been prohibited.
Ahead of the NEET PG 2026 examination, gatherings of five or more people will not be permitted within 200 metres of examination centres on August 30.
Photocopy and photostat machines will also be prohibited from operating within 200 metres of examination centres on the day before the examination and on the day of the exam.
