The firing at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff's vehicle has triggered a political row in Maharashtra, with opposition parties accusing the BJP-led government of a complete collapse of law and order. Meanwhile, Rajasthan police have arrested three men. The Kota City Police team caught them while they were travelling on a train. Two accused are residents of Haryana, while the third is from Bihar.

The firing incident took place around 7 pm on Sunday in Mumbai's Juhu area when Shroff was leaving a football club. Three gunmen allegedly opened fire at his car. The actor escaped unhurt, while his driver sustained injuries.

Opposition parties have accused the BJP-led government in Maharashtra of creating a jungle raj following the collapse of law and order. The Shiv Sena (UBT) has demanded the imposition of president's rule, terming Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis the most unsuccessful home minister.

The remarks come after a shooting targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff's vehicle in Juhu and the recent murder of Shiv Sena (UBT) Thane divisional head Pradip Purnekar.

What did the opposition say?

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Monday launched a scathing attack on the state government, declaring that law and order have completely collapsed. He asserted that President's rule is now the "only remaining option" for Maharashtra, while directly targeting CM Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the home portfolio, over his alleged failure to curb rising crime.

Raut claimed that multiple shooting incidents had taken place in Mumbai within a short period. He also referred to previous incidents involving Salman Khan and the killing of Baba Siddique, alleging that the state government had failed to effectively control criminal gangs.

“The Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has lost control of everything. Now look at the way it is happening every day. Murder is happening, extortion is happening, and kidnapping is happening. What is the Chief Minister doing? You are the Chief Minister, so it is your responsibility,” he said.

Raut also raised concerns about the alleged influence of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and questioned whether the authorities were doing enough to prevent threats and shootings involving prominent personalities.

The NCP (SP) working president and MP Supriya Sule condemned the attack on Tiger Shroff, claiming that in broad daylight, on busy streets, criminals are brandishing swords and firing shots. "This picture of the law and order situation in Maharashtra is extremely alarming. As a result, citizens are living in fear and are anxious about their safety. I request the Honourable Home Minister to please immediately review the law and order situation in the state and take appropriate measures to reassure the public," she said.

Congress also hit out at the ruling government. Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Harshwardhan Sapkal alleged that the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra has created a jungle raj.

"If an actor like Tiger Shroff can be shot at in broad daylight in a metropolis like Mumbai, then who will guarantee the safety of ordinary citizens? Law and order in the state has completely broken down. Criminals no longer fear the law, and the Chief Minister's control over the police administration has ceased to exist. As Chief Minister and Home Minister, Devendra Fadnavis has failed utterly. Fadnavis, who has given criminals free rein and kept the public under the shadow of terror, must accept moral responsibility and resign immediately," he remarked.

The Maharashtra Congress general secretary Sachin Sawant claimed that the news of a shooting at actor Tiger Shroff's car is utterly shocking and asked, "What exactly is going on in Mumbai?" "The murder of former minister Baba Siddique, a shooting at Salman Khan's house, threats to numerous actors and producers... law and order in Mumbai has gone completely haywire. It's not just a lack of law and order; it's as if utter chaos has taken hold. The Chief Minister has proved to be a total failure! We'd reached the point of saying, 'Maharashtra has become Bihar,' but now, we've come to the stage where we're saying, 'Even Bihar is better,' he said.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal also criticised the Centre over the firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, questioning its handling of crime and security.

In a post on X, Kejriwal alleged that the Centre had provided facilities to a gangster to carry out criminal activities.

“They can't even manage law and order in their own states. They've made the country's biggest gangster their son-in-law (Lawrence Bishnoi) and given him every facility to commit crimes, not just in India but all over the world,” Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal warned that voting for the party would amount to inviting the gangster to Punjab.

“And tomorrow these people will come to Punjab to lecture on law and order. The people of Punjab know that voting for them would be like inviting their son-in-law to Punjab,” he added.

As per the police, three to four rounds were fired at the actor's car as he was leaving a ground in his vehicle. A large crowd had gathered at the location to see him when the firing took place from within the crowd.

Luckily, the actor escaped without being hit by any bullets, while police continue to investigate the incident and establish the circumstances surrounding the firing. Two people were injured in the firing, including Tiger Shroff's driver, Firdaus, who sustained a gunshot wound to his left arm.
