The Enforcement Directorate (ED) produced Azam Khan before Special Judge Anti-Corruption CBI court, Avanish Kumar Pandey, at around 10.30 am amid tight security. A convoy of five ED vehicles brought him to the court premises, accompanied by more than 100 personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the UP Police.
What Happened in the Court?
Khan appeared relaxed when he arrived at the court in a MUV car. As he rolled down the window, the leader was asked whether he wanted to say something. He responded, "Ab kya reh gaya hai bolne ko" (What is left to say now?). The court gave the order after hearing the matter for about 90 minutes. The ED counsel, Kuldeep Srivastava, argued on behalf of the agency, while ED’s Deputy Director Piyush Thorat and Assistant Director Praveen Kumar remained present inside the court.
The Allahabad High Court on Thursday suspended Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam Khan's sentences and granted them bail in the dual PAN card case. Strict security arrangements were put in place during the proceedings. Officials from the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) Lucknow zonal office attended the court amid a heavy deployment of central paramilitary forces and state police personnel. Outside the premises, a gathering of supporters raised slogans in Khan’s favour.

ED Tightens Grip on Jauhar University
The relief in the PAN card case came after a major coercive action by central agencies. On Wednesday, the ED attached the land and buildings of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The agency noted that the asset attachment relates to a broader money-laundering investigation stemming from multiple police FIRs lodged against Khan and his associates over alleged land grab and financial irregularities
Incident Triggered Political Reactions
SP national general secretary Shivpal Singh Yadav hit out at the ruling dispensation, alleging that central agencies are being weaponised. He claimed the ED was acting at the behest of the government to re-arrest Khan as soon as he secures bail, urging citizens to voice their opposition against "oppressive governments."
The BJP defended the ED's action, asserting that the law is equal for all citizens. Party leaders maintained that the action by the ED is strictly evidence-based and free from political vendetta.
