INDIA bloc MPs leave New Police Lines, Kingsway Camp. They had been detained by the Delhi Police during the Opposition’s protest. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were among those detained earlier. The MPs left the premises after being held at the police lines.,

According to the Delhi Police, around 260 protesters, including 10 MPs, were detained during the protest. After Rahul Gandhi refused to leave until MPs were given an appointment with the ECI, police removed and detained the protesters, citing the need to maintain law and order and public safety.

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the BJP, alleging that the poll panel was not functioning impartially and accusing the ruling party of defending the Commission because it "manipulates the system through them."

Yadav's remarks came after he participated in the INDIA bloc's march towards the Election Commission headquarters in New Delhi earlier in the day. The Opposition MPs were stopped by barricades from entering Nirvachan Sadan, following which several leaders, including Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Congress general secretary KC Venugopal, staged a sit-in at the nearby Akashvani Bhavan, around 100 metres from the poll panel's office.

The Election Commission has denied receiving any request from opposition parties seeking a meeting with EC officials. "The Commission wishes to clarify that, as of 4:00 PM today, no political party had formally requested a meeting with the Election Commission through its representatives. Subsequently, around 4:00 PM, information was received from the Delhi Police that a delegation of MPs, led by the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, wished to meet the Commission to submit a memorandum," the EC said in a statement.

"While the Election Commission was considering the meeting proposal from the Members of Parliament after 4 PM today, it was informed by the Delhi Police DCP that the requested meeting was to involve a group of 240 MPs and was proposed to be held at the Parliament House Annexe. The Election Commission deemed this request unusual and unacceptable, as established protocol dictates that such meetings take place within the premises of the Election Commission of India," the statement added.

At least 200 people, including 50 MPs, have been detained by the Delhi Police from outside the Akashvani Bhawan in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Pawan Khera, Imran Pratapgarhi and Venugopal Rao are among the leaders detained by the Police.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been detained by the Delhi Police. A video shared by news agency ANI showed him sitting in a bus. It is not known where the police are taking the detained leaders.,

The Delhi Police has detained Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Pawan Khera, Venugopal Rao and other opposition leaders from Akashvani Bhawan in Delhi. The leaders have been protesting against the Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, demanding his resignation over allegations that he took unilateral decisions regarding the SIR.,

The Delhi Police tried to forcibly remove the Congress leaders from Akashvani Bhawan, where they have been protesting for the last 8 hours. According to news agency PTI, Rahul Gandhi resisted detention attempt by the police. ,

The Delhi Police will not remove Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from Akashvani Bhawan for the time being, as they stage a protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, according to ANI citing police sources.

There are currently no plans to remove the protesters during the night. Delhi Police has stepped up security arrangements in view of the protest. The police remain on alert as the protest is likely to continue through the night.

A video of LOP Rahul Gandhi’s interaction with a Delhi Police officer during the INDIA bloc’s march to the Election Commission has gone viral. The footage shows Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra sitting under a tree as police officers politely ask them to leave the area and go home. Gandhi questions where politicians and MPs can sit if they are not allowed to protest or meet the Election Commission. Priyanka Gandhi also asserts that protesting is a citizen’s constitutional right.,

Congress MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring accused the Election Commission of violating the Constitution and undermining democracy. Backing Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of “vote theft,” he claimed the EC was taking decisions without informing the Opposition and demanded action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, including his arrest and dismissal.,

The protest continues at Akashvani Bhavan in Delhi, with Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal and other Congress leaders staging a sit-in since morning after police stopped their march towards the Election Commission headquarters.,

The Election Commission on Tuesday said it had not received any request from any political party for a meeting, even as Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and others staged a protest near the poll panel's office seeking a meeting with the election commissioners.

Rahul Gandhi said MPs will continue their protest at Akashvani Bhavan, asserting that they have no objection to protesting there. He said the Constitution allows them to protest and suggested that Delhi Police provide an alternative venue if they are uncomfortable with the demonstration.,

The protest escalated after police blocked opposition MPs en route, leading some leaders including Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi to enter the All India Radio premises and stage a standoff.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat have "hijacked" the country with the help of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar by carrying out "vote chori", and asserted that action will be taken against all of them for committing "treason".,

Nobody is going to escape accountability, Gandhi said.

"I am not interested in what the BJP says. I am standing here to protect democracy in the country. Along with me, 300 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs had come and they are also trying to protect democracy," the Leader of Opposition said.

Gyanesh Kumar CEC resignation Protest Live: Rahul Gandhi, who was restricted to Akashvani Bhawan along with other MPs, said that he is not only countering the BJP but is going to destroy them. "We are not only countering them, but we are also going to destroy them. I have no interest in what BJP says. I am standing here to save the democracy of India. A few hours ago, 300 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs came here with me. They too are trying to save democracy in the country. Amit Shah, Narendra Modi, Mohan Bhagwat and Gyanesh Kumar... these people have destroyed the country's democratic system," he said.

INDIA Bloc EC March Live Updates: Heavy congestion was spotted in Lutyens' Delhi as barricades, diversions and security restrictions turned key roads into long stretches of slow-moving traffic on Tuesday. From India Gate and Connaught Place to Parliament Street and Jantar Mantar, bumper-to-bumper traffic built up on several stretches, with vehicles inching forward amid diversions and intermittent stoppages.

He accused Congress of being driven by a destructive mentality due to political defeats. INDIA Protest Election Commission Live: Samajwadi Party MPs Zia-ur-Rehman, Rajeev Rai and others climbed atop the barricades on Parliament Street as the protest march was stopped from proceeding further. Rai said, "The people of the nation have come forward against the Election Commission of India." Rehman said, " Votes are being looted, democracy is being killed; we demand the resignation of the CEC. The country should get justice. Today, we have marched from Parliament, but this could take the shape of a movement, and the whole country will come out on the roads."

Gyanesh Kumar CEC resignation Protest Live: Congress posted a video from Akashvani Bhawan in an X post, showing Rahul and other leaders of the INDIA bloc struggling to enter the Akashvani Bhawan.
