Gurugram Hit-And-Run Case: Kalyan Bainsla, 33, an accused in the Gurugram hit-and-run case, attempted to escape from police custody on the pretext of going to the toilet on Tuesday. After his arrest, he tried to escape custody on the pretext of urinating, fell, and got hurt, police officials said. Bainsla was given first aid at a hospital, they added.

Earlier in the day, Bainsla, a gym owner, was arrested after a complaint was filed by a woman biker. She accused him of ramming his speeding car into her biker, knocking her off and sending her skidding down a road.
He was nabbed on charges of attempt to murder and stalking following a two-day search. Bainsla and a cousin, who were together on Sunday when the collision took place on Gurugram's Golf Course Road, were nabbed from Rajgarh in Rajasthan, a short distance from Gurugram.

The police said Bainsla passed indecent comments against 27-year-old biker Shivani Chauhan, who shared a video of the dramatic hit-and-run, which raised concerns over rash driving, harassment and the vulnerability of women and two-wheeler riders.

Bainsla has also been accused of grazing Chauhan, who was riding an Aprilia RS 457, at speed in his Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, coming from behind. The police impounded the car, registered in the name of an acquaintance, and also arrested Bainsla's cousin, Lovneesh, who was with him in the car at the time of the incident. Lavneesh, 34, is a resident of New Colony, Palwal.

What Sia Said On Accused's Arrest

On the arrest of accused Bainsla and Lovneesh, Sia said adding charges is not enough. "I have given the statement today. Arrest is not satisfying until strict action is taken against them. If someone bails them out after 3 days, there will be no action. Two more people were in the car. They, too, should be arrested. They should be punished," she added.

What Gurugram Police Said?

The police team is questioning both accused Kalyan Bainsla and Lovneesh. We will take them on police remand after they are produced in a city court tomorrow," a Gurugram police spokesperson said.

Addressing the media, Gurugram DCP (East) Sandeep Kumar said the victim claimed that Bainsla hurled a slur at her before the incident and tried to kill her.

"It can be clearly seen that he deliberately hit (the biker) from the side after an argument and the intent was to kill the victim. The victim has also told the police that the intention was to kill her," he said.
