DUSU Election Results 2026: ABVP's Yash Dabas Leads By 294 Votes After Round 15

DUSU Elections 2026: As high-stakes elections for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) concluded on Friday, officials are tallying ballots at the Multipurpose Hall of the University Sports Stadium on North Campus. The outcome will determine the winners of four central panel posts: president, vice president, secretary, and joint secretary.

A total of 20 candidates are in the final contest, including seven candidates for president, five for vice-president and four each for secretary and joint secretary. ABVP, NSUI and the AISA-SFI alliance have fielded candidates for all four central posts.

The voting for DU concluded on Friday, recording a voter turnout of 40.46 per cent. In 2025, the voter turnout stood at 39.5 per cent. The polling was conducted in two stages; the first phase was held from 8:30 am to 1 pm, and the second stage for the evening students was conducted from 3 pm to 7:30 pm.

ABVP Won Multiple Seats in DU Colleges

The ABVP has secured prominent positions in several colleges in the DUSU election ahead of the result, such as ABVP having won all four key posts at Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Sri Aurobindo College (Morning), Dr BR Ambedkar College, Bharati College and Shivaji College. At Ramjas College, ABVP candidates won the posts of President, Secretary, Central Councillor and Internal Complaints Committee.

Delhi University has 91 colleges across its North and South campuses, but only 52 colleges and faculties directly participate in the DUSU elections. St Stephen's College, Lady Shri Ram College, and Jesus and Mary College are among those excluded from the electoral process.

Amid violent clashes, the Delhi High Court has barred victory processions and asked the Delhi Police to make sure no such procession is held on roads, hostels and inside of colleges after the DUSU election results are declared. Students violating the order will be punished, and strict action will be taken against them.

-NSUI’s Vijay Shankar Meena leads with 14,530 votes, ahead of ABVP’s Yash Dabas, who has 14,106 votes. Meena’s lead: 424 votes.

- Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen is leading the vice-presidential race with 11,347 votes, well ahead of ABVP's Ishu Maurya (5,739) and NSUI's Vir Chatrath (1,620).

-  Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha (SCS) candidate Vishesh Yadav leads with 5,413 votes for the post of Joint secretary, followed by ABVP's Lakshay Raj Singh with 4,513 and NSUI's Gopal Choudhary with 4,145.

- Yash Dabas holds narrow lead over Meena after Round 5.The cumulative vote count after the fifth round of DUSU Elections 2026-27 stands as follows:

President: Yash Dabas (ABVP) – 5,790; Vijay Shankar Meena (NSUI) – 5,737.

Vice-president: Deepanshu (Independent) – 7,655; Ishu Maurya (ABVP) – 3,939; Vir Chatrath (NSUI) – 1,117.

Secretary: Riya Chhawadi (ABVP) – 5,216; Namrata Chaudhary (NSUI) – 3,767.

Joint secretary: Vishesh Yadav (SCS) – 4,270; Lakshay Raj Singh (ABVP) – 3,830; Gopal Choudhary (NSUI) – 3,421.

-ABVP's Riya Chhawadi is leading in the secretary's race after the second round of DUSU vote counting, securing 2,146 votes. NSUI's Namrata Chaudhary is trailing with 1,765 votes.

Who Won The 2025 DU Elections?

In the 2025 election, the ABVP won three of the four central panel posts, including the president's position, while the NSUI secured the vice-president's post.

ABVP's Aryan Maan had won the president's post with 28,841 votes, while NSUI's Rahul Jhansla secured the vice-president's post with 29,339 votes. ABVP candidates Kunal Chaudhary and Deepika Jha became secretary and joint secretary, respectively, after defeating their opponents.
