Railway News: The migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are likely to face severe challenges during their travel ahead of key festivals Diwali and Chhath Puja. While the festivals are in November, the trains from Delhi, Mumbai, and Gujarat to the northern states are already dealing with a shortage of seats. The passengers have complained that confirmed seats are unavailable on several key trains, adding that the waiting lists are also rapidly increasing.
No Availability In Key Trains
As per the passengers, they are not able to book tickets in several key trains, including New Delhi-Rajendra Nagar Patna Tejas Rajdhani, Dibrugarh Rajdhani, Agartala Tejas Rajdhani, Poorva Express, Sampoorna Kranti, North-East Sampark Kranti, Brahmaputra Mail, Seemanchal, Magadh, Mahananda, Shramjeevi, and Farakka Express.
The travelers are facing a similar situation on the Delhi-Varanasi route. Despite being active almost two months ahead of the festivals, the passengers are not able to book tickets in major trains such as Shivganga Express, Swatantrata Senani Express, Lichchavi, Mahamana, and Sadbhavna Expresses.

Mumbai-Bihar Route's Condition
Apart from this, the passengers are also not able to book tickets on trains from Mumbai to Bihar and the eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh. While the Mumbai-Asansol Express has waiting lists only in third AC coaches, there is no room in sleeper coaches. Apart from this, all coaches of the LTT-Dibrugarh, LTT-Patliputra, and LTT-Rajgir Expresses are full.
Special Trains To Ease Rush
With no or very little availability of the regular services, the passengers are now banking on the festive special trains to visit their homes. The railway has already announced the operation of several special trains on the key routes, with more such announcements likely in the coming weeks. The authority is also likely to add more coaches in the already operating trains to manage the rush.
Heavy Rush Likely During Diwali, Chhath
The trains to the northern states, especially Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, are likely to witness a huge rush during the festivals as lakhs of migrants return to their homes. The passengers have been advised to follow the schedule, book tickets in advance, and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconveniences.
