  1. CBI registers FIR in Disha Salian death case after father's statement.
  2. Aaditya Thackeray, Rhea Chakraborty, Dino Morea named in the FIR.
  3. Bombay High Court ordered CBI probe due to police investigation lapses.

In a major development in the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s former manager, Disha Salian's death case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR after her father, Satish Salian, recorded his statement before the CBI last week as part of the agency's investigation. The FIR named MLA Aaditya Thackeray, actors Dino Morea and Rhea Chakraborty, and several others.

Earlier this month, the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI investigation into Salian's death and reprimanded the Mumbai police for failing to register an FIR for six years.

"Today, we have filed a written complaint to the CP office, and the JCP Crime accepted it, and this complaint is the FIR now. The accused are Aaditya Thackeray, Dino Morea, Suraj Pancholi and his bodyguard, Parambir Singh, Sachin Vaze, and Rhea Chakraborty are all accused in this FIR. Parambir Singh was the main mastermind of the cover-up in this case. He did a press conference and fabricated lies to save Aaditya Thackeray. All the details are in the FIR. NCB's investigation paper proves that Aaditya Thackeray was involved in a drug business; that detail has been mentioned in this FIR," ANI quoted Disha Salian's father Satish Salian's advocate, Nilesh Ojha.

In the statement, Satish Salian alleged that several people, including former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, his son and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, were involved in an alleged conspiracy and its subsequent cover-up.

The CBI has identified  Aditya Thackeray, Rohan Roy, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, Aditya Thackeray's bodyguards, Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Sachin Vaze, Param Bir Singh, DCP Vishal Thakur, Uddhav Thackeray, Anil Deshmukh and several police officials.

The statement further mentions officials from Malvani Police Station, doctors and staff who delayed the post-mortem, personnel from Kalina's forensic science laboratory, security personnel of Regent Galaxy Building and several others.

What Happened To Disha Salian?

Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Malad area. Her death came days before Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra flat.

Mumbai Police had registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in the case and later concluded, after an inquiry, that Salian had died by suicide.

Why Did The CBI Take Over The Case?

The Bombay High Court ordered a CBI investigation on September 2 while hearing a petition filed by Salian's father, who had alleged lapses in the Mumbai Police investigation.

The court criticised the police for not registering an FIR for six years and observed that its investigation "raises more questions than answers". It also highlighted what it called "glaring discrepancies" in the probe.

The court further noted that Salian's family had not received copies of the post-mortem report and the ADR even six years after her death.

CBI Seeks Police Records

The central probe agency had, after the court's order, sent the police a letter asking for all documents and records related to Salian's death for its investigation.

In its FIR, the agency has named more people whose role, it says, needs to be investigated in connection with the death case and the allegations raised by Salian’s family.
