The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Sunday vowed to intensify its agitation against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, even as around 200 people were detained while protests were held at several places in the New Delhi area that remained under a security chokehold.
Police managed to prevent major protests as several workers of AISA, SFI and other left-wing organisations were detained from the inner circle of Connaught Place. CJP workers were also detained by the police. Apart from them, CPI(M) MP John Brittas was also taken into custody following an argument with the Delhi Police. Movement on key roads was regulated depending on the situation on the ground, officials said, adding that police and Central Armed Police Forces personnel would remain deployed until the situation eased.
On Saturday, the police began its crackdown on protestors by detaining key leaders of the CJP, including Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, from a flight at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the wee hours of Saturday. YouTuber Dhruv Rathee and CJP legal cell head Ratna Singh were also detained at their homes to stop them from joining the police. Around 400 suspected protesters were detained from different parts of Delhi overnight by the cops.
Following this, Ajinkya Shinde was designated by the group to lead the agitation after its leader, Abhijeet Dipke, was taken into custody. Said protesters would attempt to reach Jantar Mantar again on Sunday and continue their agitation until their demands were met.
Sharing a hard-hitting post on X, All India Students Association (AISA) president Neha Bora said that the CJP protest against the CEC would continue on Sunday as well. “Let a hundred Jantar Mantars bloom! Another part of Delhi will become Jantar Mantar tomorrow,” she added.

'PM Modi, Shah Have Made Up Their Minds To Remove Democracy': Kharge
Speaking to news agency ANI, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge said, "PM Modi and Shah have made up their minds to remove democracy...",
Kalaburagi, Karnataka | Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge says, "PM Modi and Shah have made up their minds to remove democracy..." He also says, "Previously, when statements were made about EVMs—such as the statements made by Rahul Gandhi—everyone used to make fun of it. Now, two members of the Central Election Commission themselves have exposed how mismanaged the system is, and how votes are manipulated, stolen, or altered. Even the two members sitting in the CEC did not have this information, and when they didn't know, they openly wrote and informed Gyanesh Kumar about it, but no attention was paid to it. After all of this came to light, Rahul Gandhi started the agitation. From the beginning, he had been saying "vote chori" in Maharashtra, Haryana, and in various parts of Karnataka like Aland, Mahadevapura, and elsewhere. Despite explaining this clearly—even explaining it like teaching children on a board—neither the Election Commission nor the government listened. Because of this, protests were started to bring it to the public's attention, and many people realized it was true and joined in. Entire INDIA alliance got united and started this agitation. Many youths felt there was some big scam or foul play, and after understanding Rahul Gandhi's statements, they joined the protest...", — ANI (@ANI) October 11, 2026

CJP Protest 2.0: DSGMC President Accuses AAP MLAs Of Manipulating Situation, Hurting Sikh Sentiments
CJP Protest Live: President, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) says, "It is deeply distressing to see attempts being made to turn Gurudwara Bangla Sahib into a political arena. This is a sacred institution—a place where people come to offer prayers and seek relief from their suffering. Yet, protesters intruded and attempted to stage a demonstration there, deeply hurting Sikh sentiments. One may offer prayers inside the Gurudwara, but protests are not permitted... The sight of police personnel walking through the Gurudwara premises hurts the hearts of the Sikh community. It is absolutely intolerable for police in uniform to traverse the Gurudwara grounds, as this is not a public thoroughfare. Yet, the situation is being manipulated, and Aam Aadmi Party MLAs in Delhi, in particular, are attempting to play dirty politics over it. I want to warn them: this is a Gurudwara, not an arena for your politics. If you play such games here, Guru Sahib will never forgive you..."
