Ahmedabad Crime News: In a tragic incident, a 22-year-old woman was killed by her father and brother in Ahmedabad after a video of her with a male friend went viral a few months ago. Sofia Farooq, the deceased, was taken to an isolated region where she was hit by a hammer and was later strangled, allegedly in the name of honour. The officials stated that while the accused tried to mislead police by presenting the death as a road accident, an in-depth probe revealed the truth.

Woman Killed By Father, Brother

While providing details, the officials stated that the accused have been identified as 56-year-old Mohammed Farooq Nawabkhan and his son Habil Farooq. They further stated that the duo allegedly took Sofia to an isolated location near Gheljipura and attacked her with a sharp hammer. The accused later tried to stage the incident as a road accident to mislead the police investigation.

The police were informed that Sofia sustained serious injuries on August 12 when an unidentified vehicle rammed her vehicle from behind, leading to serious injuries. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead by the doctors a day later on August 13.

Accused Try To Mislead Police

However, the officials stated that a detailed probe revealed that the story was fabricated by the accused to mislead the authorities. "Investigation revealed that the accident story was fabricated to mislead police," an official was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

As per the reports, the duo had asked Sofia to stop talking to men and were frustrated since the video went viral a few months back. "The video involving Sofia and a youth had gone viral around three months earlier, after which her father and brother reprimanded her and objected to her continued conversations with other boys," the official added.
