Digital Desk, New Delhi: Good news for residents living near toll plazas, as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced a new digital facility to make local toll pass applications easier for people travelling on national highways.
Residents living within a 20-kilometre radius of any toll plaza can now apply for a local toll pass from the comfort of their homes through the RajmargYatra mobile app. The pass will allow users to travel through the concerned toll plaza an unlimited number of times during the month.
Earlier, residents had to visit the concerned toll plaza in person to apply for a local pass and submit documents to prove their eligibility.
Digital local toll pass will make the process easier
With the introduction of the new digital system, the entire application process can now be completed online within minutes. This will save time and reduce the inconvenience faced by local residents.

According to NHAI, the digital local toll pass facility has initially been launched at the Mundka-Bakkarwala Toll Plaza located on Delhi’s Urban Extension Road-2. The facility will be expanded to other eligible toll plazas across the country in the coming months.
How Will It Work?
Under the new system, consent-based integration has been developed with government digital platforms such as DigiLocker and VAHAN. Through this integration, details including the applicant’s address, vehicle number, and verified information related to the linked FASTag will be collected automatically.
GIS-based verification will ensure that the applicant actually resides within a 20-kilometre radius of the concerned toll plaza. This will eliminate the need for manual document verification and make the process faster, more transparent, and accurate.

MargMitra app launched for complaints and support
NHAI has also launched the MargMitra Help Centre to improve traveller convenience. The service has been integrated into the Rajmarg Yatra application itself.
MargMitra is an intelligent digital assistance platform that enables national highway users to access information, register complaints, and receive support related to various services.
One of the key features of MargMitra is that travellers can type or speak their queries and concerns in any of India’s 22 official languages. The platform provides instant assistance related to services such as FASTag recharge, KYC, refund status, annual passes, and local passes.
If any issue requires departmental intervention, the complaint is automatically forwarded to the concerned department. Users can track the status of their complaints in real time and can also file an appeal if they are not satisfied with the resolution.
Additionally, MargMitra allows users to check FASTag blacklist status, view pending e-notices, and report issues such as broken-down vehicles, encroachments, or other road safety concerns on national highways.
