A single spell of heavy monsoon rain has exposed alleged lapses in the government system across the NCR, with three more deaths reported on Friday, including an engineer, while a child remains in critical condition.

Fatal Rain Incidents Across NCR
In Noida’s Sector 58A, a 28-year-old engineer, Aryan, died after allegedly receiving an electric shock from a roadside pole and falling into a three-feet-deep drain amid waterlogging.
Aryan, a quality engineer at Lento Industries in Noida Sector 58A, was walking towards his workplace when he stepped onto a slab covering a drain due to accumulated water. According to the complaint filed by his family at Sector 58 police station, the electric pole near the drain sparked, causing him to get electrocuted before he fell into the uncovered section of the drain.
The family has accused the Noida Authority and Electricity Corporation of negligence.
Despite the incident, locals alleged that the drain was not properly covered and bushes were placed over the open area. Rajkaran, senior manager of the Authority’s Work Circle 5, said the drain is around three feet deep, and a tender will be issued to cover it with slabs.
SK Jain, Chief Engineer of the Electricity Corporation, said there was no report confirming death due to electrocution. ADCP Noida Manisha Singh said the post-mortem did not reveal the cause of death and the viscera has been preserved.

Youth Dies After Falling Into Water-Filled Pit In Sonipat
A case was registered in Sonipat against the NHAI project manager of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in which the death of a young man had been reported after his fall into a water-filled pit that was excavated for the construction of a foot over bridge (FOB) at the black spot of the NH-44 in Bahalgarh.
Bahalgarh village sarpanch Rajesh Swami filed a complaint, stating that thousands of pedestrians use the area near the flyover daily and accidents have frequently occurred due to speeding vehicles.
This area had been marked as a black spot from December 2025. NHAI had begun construction work here some 15 days back and dug a pit for the FOB that filled with rainwater.
Allegedly, the construction agency did not put barricades or warning signs around the pit. Later, after the body was retrieved, the autopsy confirmed death due to drowning, and the police have lodged a case against the project manager.
Following the incident, NHAI had initiated a precautionary measure to barricade the portion around the pit to ensure no further incident occurs.
