In the latest development in the Nashik TCS case, Shafi Sheikh, one of the accused in the alleged sexual harassment and forced religious conversion case at the Nashik BPO unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is said to have proposed to one of the victims.

According to the victim’s statement to police, despite being married, she was approached by Sheikh, who told her, “I really like you. Will you be my girlfriend?" In a separate instance, another accused, Raza Menon, allegedly made inappropriate and lewd remarks towards her.

The victim stated that these actions caused her significant discomfort. As part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged mental and sexual harassment, police have seized Sheikh’s mobile phone. However, the phones of the remaining accused are yet to be taken into custody. Officials said a forensic examination of the devices will be conducted to gather further evidence.

So far, seven employees have been arrested in connection with the case, including Danish Sheikh, Shafi Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi and Asif Aftab Ansari. Nida Khan, a Process Associate, has also been named as an accused and is currently on the run.

Meanwhile, Sheikh, who has worked with the company for several years as a business process analyst, had earlier informed a court that he was assaulted by fellow inmates while in jail. Reports suggest he has now sought police protection inside the prison. The court has remanded him and Raza Menon to two-day police custody till April 18.

The investigation began in February after a worker of a political party registered a complaint with the Nashik City Police. The worker alleged that a Hindu woman working at the IT firm was observing the Ramzan fast, prompting authorities to launch a covert operation at the office.

The operation revealed that several team leaders at the IT firm were allegedly involved in sexual harassment, rape, and attempts to forcibly convert the religion of their co-workers.
