A student was killed after a tree fell on a school bus in Mumbai’s Chembur on Tuesday afternoon. The bus was carrying students of Universal High School on Road Number 11 when the incident happened at around 2:45 pm, as per Mumbai fire brigade.
12 students were safely rescued by the bus conductor and local citizens. Out of them, 4 students sustained minor injuries, while one boy was seriously injured.

"The injured students have been admitted to Zen Hospital for further treatment. Out of them, the condition of 4 children is stable; 1 critically injured student, Vihan Shrivastav (11 years old) declared dead at 1623 hrs," ANI quoted Mumbai Fire Brigade as saying. This comes amid the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) heavy rain and thunderstorm forecast for the city.
As per an NDTV report, local residents had alerted the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) of similar incidents in the past but no action was taken to trim the trees.
Mumbai received moderate rainfall during 24 hours, ending at 8 am. The eastern suburbs recorded the highest average rainfall of 40.62 mm, followed by the island city at 26.03 mm and the western suburbs at 22.47 mm, officials said.
A high tide of 4.16 metres is expected at 12.35 pm, while another high tide of 3.61 metres is likely at 12.20 am on Wednesday. Low tides are expected at 6.44 pm and 6.07 am on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, four people died and 25 got severely injured after a high-speeding bus collided with a trailer on the Yamuna Expressway. As per the eyewitnesses, the collision was severe and created chaos among the passengers and the local residents. While several people died on the spot due to the impact of the collision, the injured passengers were rushed to a local hospital.
