Mumbai-Goa Expressway Update: In a major update for the residents of the Konkan region, the much-awaited Mumbai-Goa Highway is likely to open for the commuters before the upcoming monsoon season. The authorities stated that the construction work is in the final stages, adding that the highway will boost the regional connectivity significantly. Along with linking the key regions of the city, it will also cut the travel time and reduce traffic congestion. The commuters usually face inconveniences due to waterlogging during monsoon; however, the highway will provide them an alternative.

Relief For Konkan Travellers

While providing details, the officials stated that the commuters usually faced heavy congestion on the highway, especially during the festivals and monsoons. They further stated that a long queue of vehicles was seen during the peak hours; however, the residents will get relief once the operation on the highway begins. The travel time between the two key cities is likely to significantly reduce once the upgraded sections of the highway are opened.

The authorities further stated that the completion of the bypass roads at Mangaon and Indapur in Raigad District will improve connectivity. The residents of these regions often faced congestion due to the narrow stretches of road and surge in vehicles over the years. The bypass roads will divert the traffic from these regions, leading to a better travel experience for the commuters.

As per the officials, the construction of these bypass roads is in the final stages, adding that the operation is likely to begin by June 1, reported News18. The project faced long delays due to financial and logistic reasons; however, the presence of a railway electricity pole was among the top reasons.
