In the latest development in the Mumbai family death case, the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration's FDA confirmed that there were no signs of adulteration in their food. The police are not waiting for the forensic report, which will further clarify whether the family died by food poisoning or by consuming any toxic substance.
All Samples Met The Mandated Standards
The FDA officials claimed their tests can just determine if a product is what it claims to be and can find a mixture of known substances in food adulteration. For ex., in the case of watermelon, the FDA ruled out synthetic dyes and other substances used to modify colour, taste, and size.

The remaining food samples were collected and found to be of standard quality. The water samples were less in quantity; the team could not draw any conclusion from the liquid. The meat samples have been shared with BMC labs for protein analysis.
The forensic reports will further determine the cause of death of the family. The food samples were distributed between the FDA and the forensic department.
The FDA had collected 11 samples from the deceased family’s home that included leftover watermelon and biryani stored in the refrigerator, pulao from utensils, raw chicken from the freezer, kitchen ingredients such as spices and rice, partially consumed dates, and water stored in glasses and a clay pot.
