Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday made a huge announcement, saying that more action on the paper leaks will be taken in the Cabinet meeting on Friday. The announcement came after he directed to set up fast-track court to try the offences related to it.

In a video message to the nation posted on X, he said that in two and a half months since the paper leak, the government took many steps, including the arrest of the accused. "PM Promises "More Strict Actions" Against Leaks Today As Protests Continue"Paper leak is not an ordinary issue. It is very painful for lakhs of students and their families. That is why many steps have been taken in the last two and a half months," the prime minister said.

He added that his government's priority was to ensure that one year of 22 lakh aspirants does not go in vain and hence, in a short period of time, the exams were conducted and the results were announced.

"The culprits have been caught and are in jail. Our most important responsibility was to ensure that students do not waste a single year. It was very important to take the exams immediately," he explained in the video.

The major annoucnement came after news agency PTI, citing sources, reported that the Union Ministers will hold a high-level dialogue with Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders at around 12:30 PM.

The meeting is being seenas a major breakthrough after the CJP denied to meet the ministers at their houses or offices. The government had claimed that in the last 24 hours, four outreaches were made to the protesting leadership.

Fast-track court

The government has swung into action after it witnessed the biggest youth protest in the last 12 years on Monday, the first day of the monsoon session when CJP held a 'Sansad Chalo' march, joined by thousands of protestors. Earlier in the day, the prime minister announced to set-up  fast track courts yo try offences related to the NEET paper leak.

Within hours, a court set up at Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court. The Delhi High Court transferred Anu Grover Baliga, in charge of the Mediation Centre at Tiz Hazari Court, to the Rouse Avenue Court. The fast-track court will try offences under the Public Examinations (Prevention of unfair means ) Act, 2024 and other related offences.
